Emergency Preparedness

On Thursday, October 24th, we met at Mary Alice Hatch's house to discuss emergency preparednes. Mary Alice presented the lesson. She has quite a bit of equipment and is prepared for anything!

The discussion included water purification, food storage, financial preparedness (have cash on hand) and first aid.

The 72-hour backpack was featured. This should include essentials like toothbrushes, toilet paper, tampons, blankets, hats, windup flashlight (no batteries), and matches and a lighter. Food that is included here should be updated to reflect the current diet of the user(s).

Keep emergency contact information and a picture of your family in a safe spot to use if you get separated from your family and need to identify them to others.

Have a designated meeting place near your house if you need to get out quickly.

We also talked about generators - large, automatic ones and small, appliance-specific ones. They were declared to be very useful.

There were lots of helpful comments and suggestions.

After the presentation, we were treated to a violin solo by Sister Wagner, one of our sister missionaries. It was beautiful!

We enjoyed food that was prepared by Tanya Rogers - beautiful and delicious!

A special thank-you to Mary Alice for hosting (and presenting) our evening!
